This practical drawing course is suitable for those who have either, successfully completed the I.S.S. 'Introduction to drawing' course, or, have some experience of life drawing and competence in using line, tone, proportion and foreshortening (perspective).

Working from a variety of sources, including the clothed model, the course will cover an introduction to the skeletal and muscular structure of the figure with an emphasis initially on line, tone, proportion and foreshortening of the head and figure. This will lead to the exploration of a variety of drawing mediums to develop a more expressive and personal approach to figure drawing and portraiture.

Workshop sessions with group and individual tuition will be underpinned by individual research study and practice for which guidance will be given. Students are expected to take advantage of galleries and museums locally and in London.

For some other courses you will see that prerequisites are listed - applicants for these courses are expected to submit transcripts to demonstrate that they have taken, or are currently taking, the necessary precursors.
