This three-week course, gives you an insight to the fundamental principles of British architectural design, mixing theory and practical work in the creative processes of 'thinking and making'.To develop your appreciation of British design and cultural identity, you will contrast ancient and modern architecture styles through a series of lectures, field trips, group projects and practical tasks.You'll be encouraged to use digital techniques in your work, along with drawing and illustrative methods as you work up ideas on building concepts, spatial awareness and form. Using your drawings and 3D software, you'll produce a model from your design.During the final week you will work in groups on a practical urban planning and architecture project. you'll be given a brief that tests your ability to solve problems as well as your technical and aesthetic knowledge.Visit outstanding UK sitesThe course includes study day trips to leading UK architectural sites such as the World Heritage site Stone Henge, Salisbury Cathedral and the internationally renowned landmarks of London. You'll use research and sketchbook sessions that you can incorporate in your studio work.
