The University of Bologna will run the "Greek and Latin" Summer School (24 June - 12 July 2013), lasting 3 weeks. All teaching and activities will be in English.The programme is run in co-operation with the "Dipartimento di Filologia Classica e Italianistica" (Department of Classics and Italian Studies).Each course will offer 40 hours of classes + 10 hours of shared didactic activities + extra optional cultural activities (visits to Rome, Ravenna, various museums) during the weekends.For informations and applications: diri_school.latin@unibo.itDEADLINE for online registration: 31 May 2013

Target group
Anyone aged 18+, in possession of a Secondary school (or equivalent) or higher diploma, with an interest in classical languages. No knowledge of Latin/Greek is required for the Beginners course.

Course aim
Each class is equivalent to a semester's study at the University of Bologna, Dpt. of Classical philology and Italian studies.Students of the beginners classes will end up with a good basic knowledge of the chosen language(s), and will be able to individually read, translate and understand ancient texts with the help of a dictionary.Students of the intermediate class will end up with an advanced knowledge of the language, dramatically improving their skills, understanding, and translation.See online Syllabus at: http://www.ficlit.unibo.it/dipartimento/summer-school

5.0 ECTS credits

Each class awards 5 university learning credits (Greek or Latin course) or 9 credits (Greek and Latin courses).



Course fee
EUR 950: Basic student tuition fee, 1 course (Greek or Latin, any level).Tuition fees for 2 courses (Greek and Latin, any level) will be 1.500 E.

EUR 850: Auditor (no ECTS credits issue) tuition fee, 1 courses (Greek and Latin, any level).Tuition fees for 2 courses (Greek and Latin, any level) will be 1.300 E.Reduced fees for former or current Erasmus students
