In a world with limited mineral oil resources and an environment that is under pressure due to rising temperatures, a transition to alternative energy sources is necessary. The ideas are numerous, but the economy is limiting. In this summer school course, we will look at the most advanced biofuel production processes and try to give a broad overview as well as an in-depth understanding of these. We will look at the processes and the economy and try to determine what limits the expansion of biofuel production. We will also try to identify how processes can be optimised to large scale as well as to small scale processes.

Target group
Bachelor's or Master's students with a background in Engineering in biotechnology, bioprocess technology, biochemistry or chemical technology with an interest in biology

Course aim
The objective is to facilitate better interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaboration between BSc and MSc students with different technical backgrounds. PhD students who are skilled in combining theoretical knowledge with practical usage are also invited to apply for the summer school.
