One week course to get acquainted with exposure assessment and health risk analyses of components of biological origin including the diverse environmental compartments and the different routes of transmission. An introduction to the different types of biological agents will be given (micro-organisms, viruses, non-infectious agents (e.g. endotoxin, allergen)). The principles of exposure assessment for biological agents and measurement strategies will be discussed. The principle of risk assessment will be lectured. The topics will be covered through lectures, a practical, and through application of the content of the lectures in case-studies.

Target group
Course is directed at MSc-students and PhD-students. Participants preferably have a BSc in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Biomedical Sciences or Engineering.A good command of English is required.

The objective of this course is to get acquainted with the principles of exposure assessment and health risk assessment for components of biological nature.After completing this course the participant:1.has gained understanding of the different biological agents2.is able to interpret and to critically evaluate scientific literature regarding biological agents and health risks.3.is able to critically evaluate exposure assessment strategies and health effects assessment methods for biological agents,
