This course's main theme is the Chemical Safety Assessment as required under REACH. The backbone of the course is the regulatory background of REACH and the risk assessment chain from emission and distribution of chemicals to exposure of man and ecosystems and finally, in the risk characterization, to effects. Exposure Scenarios and risk management measures are considered as well as the collection, evaluation and selection of exposure and effects data, including alternative data and integrated testing strategies.

Target group
This course is intended for professionals within industry, governments, universities and consultants, who want to advance their knowledge on REACH and the Chemical Safety Assessment of industrial chemicals. The course is at intermediate level: it requires a good knowledge of the basic sciences (chemistry, biology, physics) and (eco)toxicology, but basic knowledge on risk assessment will be sufficient.
Course aim
After completing the course, the participants will have an overview of the role of chemical safety assessment in REACH, in line with EU guidance.
