This course focuses on the translation of basic (molecular, genetic) knowledge and technical developments in the field of oncology into evidence-based clinical practice. For this purpose, various departments from the University Medical Center Utrecht and Utrecht University will introduce their lines of cancer research and outline the recent developments in detection and treatment of cancer.
In addition to discussing molecular and technical developments, the importance of prevention and early detection will be highlighted. Two new features in this course include session on 'Evaluation of Innovation' and measuring 'Patient Reported Outcome Measures' (PROMs).

Target group
Advanced bachelors / beginning masters with an interest clinical and translational oncologic research. Curiosity, excellent interpersonal skills and an open mind are assets. Applicants should be proficient in English and will be subjected to a selection procedure.
Course aim
At the end of the week, participants will have solid knowledge on the requirements for successfully translating basic and technological developments into clinically meaningful therapies, and appreciate that multidisciplinary collaboration and central position of the patient will be key factors for success.
