Currently, however, social scientists with diverse backgrounds are becoming interested in the potential of these techniques for their research interests as well. The course will give the student an overview of the possibilities of at least 4 techniques (electroencephalogram (EEG)/event related potentials (ERP); functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI); galvanic skin response (GSR); and eye-movement recording.
There will be a special focus on experimental design using classic publications in the field of the students' interest using one of the above mentioned techniques. Students will also design an experiment that relates to their object of study.

Talented last year Ba- and Ma students in the social sciences (like sociology, educational psychology, and pedagogy).
Course aim
- The students will be able to read and understand social scientific work that uses neurophysiologic measures.
- The students will have rudimentary knowledge about what kinds of social scientific questions can be addressed with the methods introduced.
- The students will have basic knowledge about how to design a proper social scientific experiment using the discussed techniques.
