"Literature is a country", says Clark Blaise, the Canadian writer and former Director of the famous International Writing Program in Iowa. Literature is international meeting-place, and poetry is a universal language. In this course, the student will improve her/his own literary writing skills through reading and writing exercises.
Writing: Any genre is allowed; the main focus will be on poetry and short prose. Reading: Poems and short prose by famous European writers from all times and places, with a special on Dutch contemporary poetry (English translations provided).Contact hours: 30 plus excursions (poetry evenings/events)Assignments: 15Total study load: approximately 45 hours
