This course will start with an overview of the history of asset bubbles andcrises, from the South Sea bubble and Tulipmania, to the Great Depression and themore recent dotcom bubble and to the latest global financial crisis, as well as the Eurozone.
Furthermore, the course will focus on the latest events in the nationaland global financial markets, such as asset bubbles and sub-prime mortgage crisis,and on the macroeconomic policies aimed at the economic recovery and theprevention of such crises in the future. Our Department provides expertise inthe area of international macroeconomics, and has recently hosted an annual international symposium in money, macro and finance, a world-class forum of academics and policymakers specialising in the economics of financial bubbles and crises and related macroeconomic policies.
