Tallinn Summer School in cooperation with Baltic Film and Media School offers an unique and inspiring two-stage film course. The course consists of two parts: the first part covers cinematic narration and script-writing skills. The focus of this week is seeing and writing. The first week aims to offer a detailed account of the development of film language and cinematic narration in its many-sided and exciting forms.
The course provides students with a critical understanding of film techniques and script in order to write the film participant wants to shoot on following week. The second and third week offers an opportunity to develop the story-telling craft and get started making your own short film. The focus of these weeks is on practical experience. Over the weeks, the participants will acquire a thorough knowledge of the basics of filmmaking with the focal point being one short film. Students will work in small groups and write, produce, direct and digitally edit one short film, while at the same time gaining experience of the different roles in a film crew while working on the films of the other participants.

Target group
The course is suitable for all people who are interested in the theory and practice of filmmaking. No particular experience of filmmaking is required and the school encourages the enrolment of students from all backgrounds and countries.
