The framework of the course is a rework of the business concept 'disruptive innovation'. In the course we aim to discuss the interactions between the fields of business and digital art/activism in new ways. New technologies involving self-organization (e.g. Wikipedia) disrupt business practices.
At the same time digital art and activist practices subvert business models in innovative ways and offer an opportunity to re-examine assumptions about resource and innovation methods that can be used for either business or arts development, or social benefit. The course will involve theoretical discussions of networks and business/economics, analysis of activist strategies and hands-on workshops. Course offered by Department of Aesthetics and Communication.
