The Netherlands has a long and rich history and tradition in arts, design and artistic and technological innovation. Famous Dutch modern fine artists are Piet Mondriaan and Gerrit Rietveld (De Stijl), Karel Appel and Constant (COBRA) and architect Berlage (Amsterdamse School). Also modern artists who use technological innovations such as Peter Struyken, Mischa Klein, Daan Roosegaarde, Herm Maat and Theo Jansen are world renowned. During this three-week intensive course you will be immersed in a creative pressure cooker. A collaboration between visual artists and IT specialists leads to interactive installations in a public setting/environment during an exhibition.

You will be developing the idea of the interactive artwork to be presented in the final public exhibition, and start with its technological realisation. During the last week you will be mainly working on location, finishing and fine-tuning the artwork. This week will end with the final assessment and the public opening of the exhibition. During the whole course there will be four advisors with whom you have regular contact. The first week the main advisor is Fabian de Boer (media artist, professor Minerva). His focus will be concept development. The second week development - is under supervision of Bjorn Eerkes (media artist en designer, professor Minerva). The third week Bart Barnard (web-, game - and interactive design, professor CMIT) will guide the implementation and presentation process. You will encounter them either in a lecture, seminar or workshop setting, or in the role as advisor during the (artistic and technical) process of concept development, research, technical development and presentation. The fourth principal advisor is Hermen Maat (Media artist, professor Minerva) and specialized in interactive media installations. All four advisors will have a role during the entire course.
