Virtual Reality (VR) and 3D graphics, are amongst the most advanced fields in computer science. Our summer school takes advantage of the experience of academic staff from the University of the Aegean and other Greek and international universities on the above fields, to diffuse knowledge to its participants. SSVR '13 is a focused action with features of intensive training, aiming to bring together Virtual Reality and Education.

SSVR '13 is an excellent starting point for those seeking information and skills to make the necessary design, organizational and technical steps required for the construction and implementation of such applications.The duration of our summer school is 13 days. Course meetings (lectures, lab sessions, workshops and informal sessions) will blend with social events and other activities which are included throughout the time span of the course.

Target group
We invite individuals who are interested in Virtual Reality and 3D environments and their educational uses to join our summer school. Students and professionals with background in ICT, engineering or education are suitable and welcome in our course.



Course aim
The participants will be acquainted with modern learning theories, teaching methods and the educational uses of Virtual Reality. They will know how to navigate in a virtual world, how to create content and how to implement educational scenarios. The above will bring them to the forefront of educational technology.

Course fee
EUR 300: The cost includes tuition fees, light snacks/coffees during courses, a one-day excursion, lecture notes, flash memory stick with all the required software, tourist guides-maps and the participants bag. A 10% discount is available for students and for group registration of 3 or more participants. Discounts can be added (i.e. 20% discount for group registration of 3 or more students).

Course leader
Dr. Costas Tsolakidis is Associate Professor in the University of the Aegean. He is electronics engineer and he teaches information and communication technologies (ICT) related subjects in the Department of Education.
