During this three-week intensive course, you will be prepared for academic use of English (listening, reading, and most notably writing and speaking).rnAttention will be paid to grammatical accuracy and complexity. The writing part also deals with the construction of paragraphs, different text structures, proper referencing of sources, and argumentation. You have to write an individual 1000-word paper or research report on a topic of your choice.rnStudents will improve their speaking skills by means of discussions, debates and other assignments. Students will also practice how to give an oral presentation including presentation techniques, rhetorical devices, pronunciation, and language practice.rnBetween the two lectures, time is reserved for independent study during which you are required to work on assignments and language areas in which you feel you need more practice.rnThis course is for students with a higher level of English (B2+ to C1). Everyone who is interested in joining the course needs to take a placement test and submit proof of their level of English upon registration. The test can be found here www.ef.co.uk/epis. If you score 84% or higher, this course is appropriate for you. If you score between 69% and 83%, you should join the EAP course at B2 level.

This course is designed for students preparing to study for an English-taught Bachelors or Masters program and/or a year abroad.

- Increase confidence in presenting and speaking in English.rn- Improve academic writing skills, including grammar and style.rn- Increase knowledge and active use of academic vocabulary.

6.0 ECTS credits- Target level: C1+ or higher.rn- Attendance requirement: 80% attendance.

EUR 675[Convert to USD]- Prospective Tilburg University students who register from September 2014 pay 675 and can use their language vouchers to get a refund of 549.- Tilburg University members of staff: pay 576.- External participants pay 675. - Alumni who graduate less than four years ago, can participate in this course at the internal rate of 576.
