The College of Engineering and Architecture of the Kore University of Enna and the Institute for Coastal Marine Environment of the National Research Council have organized the first international Summer school dedicated to "New technologies for environmental risk assessment of the coastal marine environment". The event represents a special opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students and young researchers from different countries to study topical and currents issues related to the understanding and preservation of coastal marine areas.

The school includes a number of classroom sessions dedicated to new technologies and their appli-cation to coastal zone monitoring and risk assessments as well as field excursions for hands on expe-riences with monitoring technology. This part of the training will allow students to on board the re-search vessel Luigi Sanzo specifically equipped with state of art technology for environmental moni-toring at sea.

Course aim
The main purpose of the Summer School is to provide young professionals and researchers with spe-cialized training in the analysis of critical issues related to marine activities. By the end of the course they will be able to operate modern equipment typically used for the study and safeguard of marine environments.The Summer school will take place at the IAMC-CNR unit in the enchanting setting of Capo Gran-itola (TP): a natural laboratory at sea under an open blue sky where students can fully benefit from the Learning and Enjoyment philosophy of Summer schools while working in perfect harmony with the natural environment and in direct contact with the Sicilian sea.

Course fee
EUR 450: This fee covers board and lodging from 17/09/2012 to 21/09/2012, study material, transportation in Sicily, insurance, and certificate of participation.
