This course offers a two-week introduction to Europe with a strong focus on economic and business developments. The European Union with almost 500 million citizens faces serious challenges in its role as a major player in the global economy.

After a brief historical overview, students will be introduced to several core issues on European economic politics, law, finances, demographic, social and technological developments, and decision-making processes.The course will take students to Brussels, the European 'capital', and to a multinational in the Netherlands to learn how a large company deals with these challenges.

Target group
This course is open to students from all fields with a strong interest in economic trends and topics in Europe. A good command of English is necessary.

Course aim
After successful completion of this course, participants will have developed an overview of the main trends and topics in the European economy. They will have gained a theoretical background to which they are challenged to shape their own perspective and share this in group discussions, presentations and a paper.
