The increase of longevity of the population is one of the major achievements of the twentieth century. This rapid demographic transition poses huge challenges to many European countries on diverse areas. Besides the challenges of aging this transition creates a lot of opportunities for this world.
This summer course will inform you - from different perspectives (i.e. nursing, research) - about the general aging population in biological, social and psychological terms.

Course aim
By attending this summer course you are offered an introduction in the most interesting and exciting fields of gerontology and geriatrics. It will change your view on the aging society because of the interesting discussions, lectures, workshops, presentations and excursions. Major topics are: Introduction in gerontology, biology of aging and accompanying diseases, psychology of aging, sociology of aging, aging and health care systems, future of aging and myths and facts about aging.
