The summer school includes lectures and seminars. During the seminar discussions, students will engage collectively and critically the themes and issues that have been brought forth in the reading material. Each student is advised to make sure that she or he has time for the course.

Target group
The course is designed for students at advanced BA (2nd, 3rd) and MA levels. Previous knowledge on at least one of the following fields is expected: political science, international relations, humanitarianism, developmental politics or political theory. The course will require focus and attention on the part of the students.

Course aim
The aim of the course is to provide students with tools for a critical understanding of contemporary global humanitarian governance, understood as the attempt to govern individuals and human collectivities in the name of the preservation of life and the reduction of human suffering. After the course, the students are able to critically analyze and understand humanitarianism, global governance, and the role of states and multifarious international and non-governmental organization in global humanitarian governance.
