The seminar 'Global imbalances and the Financial Crises: the relation between Chimerica and the %80' consists of 5 lectures of distinguished professors from Maastricht University. They will discuss a number of topics that are related to the current financial crisis like global imbalances and the savings glut, the relation between the subprime crisis and the %80-crisis, the role and effectiveness of economic policy and the real estate market. In addition, students will work on a presentation about a specific problem that is related to the crisis.

Target group
Bachelor and Master students.The course aims at a broad audience, but we assume that students have taken at least one basic course in economics, like principles of economics course.
