The module contents represent interdisciplinary perspectives, and all three modules must therefore be completed in order to be credited. The main teaching approach consists of lectures combined with discussion workshops and field excursions. The final evaluation is based on an individual paper written by the students.

Target group
The course is designed for teacher training students, primary school teachers, people working in humanitarian organizations, and other applicants who want to learn more about issues of globalisation, development and inter-cultural understanding.

Course aim
-promote a deeper understanding of globalisation and development both in a present-day and historical context. The course will treat these issues from a theoretical as well as a case- oriented perspective;

- develop and strengthen knowledge and skills in inter-cultural understanding.



- achieve a significant degree of active participation from students through the use of discussions and group work.

The expected diverse cultural background of the course participants is considered to be a vital resource in reaching the aims of the course.

NOK 2000: The fee for the Summer School is 2000NOK. This includes accommodation, extracurricular activities, excursions and administrative costs.
