International Business Operations and Corporate Social Responsibility

The Center for Sustainability (CfS) of Nyenrode Business University offers a summer course on various aspects of international business and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Examples of the topics that will be discussed during the summer course are: legal frameworks supporting CSR (including private regulation), corruption, investing in developing countries, due diligence, multinationals and human rights, the international investment regime and CSR, stakeholder management, building partnerships, sustainable corporate water use, climate change disclosure policies, and investing in biodiversity and ecosystem services.

The research team of Nyenrode CfS has obtained scientific as well as practical expertise in these fields and will share valuable insights on these topics during the five day summer course. The coordinator of the summer course is Tineke Lambooy (Associate Professor at Nyenrode). She will lecture among others on the frameworks supporting CSR, corruption, due diligence, dispute resolution and building partnerships.

Yulia Levashova (PhD Candidate at Nyenrode) will lecture on investment law, capital markets and CSR and discuss interesting case studies concerning investment conflicts between companies and countries. Michiel Brandt (Researcher at Nyenrode) will share his knowledge relating to sustainable corporate water use, recycling of timber, and investing in nature and sustainable forestry.

Target group
This summer course is open to people interested in the topic of international business and CSR. Minimum requirements: a bachelor degree in law, economics, public policy, finance, management or similar.

Course aim
The aim of the course is to give the students a good insight in International Business Operations and CSR.After the course, the students will have a common understanding of the legal frameworks, risks and opportunities in implementing CSR.
