The course will address various aspects of international enterprises, with special reference to the developments in their working environment. The course will go through changes in the world economy, elements of globalization, factors acting behind it, and theories explaining them. It will list data sources and methodological problems in assessing the activities of international enterprises.

Changes in the working environment of international enterprises will be described in detail in terms of changes in international trade, in integration trends, in developments of FDI policies, tax policies and other government policies, pointing to the changing state-(multinational) enterprise interaction. Special attention will be paid to the changes in technology, in the geography of international production, in interaction with the activities of international enterprises.

Company, sector and country case studies will provide illustrations to the above listed developments. The possible trend changing impact of the global crisis will also be analyzed. During the course, special attention will be paid to developments in the Central and Eastern European (former transition) economies and in Hungary.

The course International enterprises provides students with an overview of developments in the world economy and international business with a special focus on international enterprises. Besides and inside international trends, it concentrates on developments in the Central and Eastern European (former transition) economies and Hungary.
