Learning Outcomes: Introduction to accessories design and production in Italy, conceptualization and production of basic leather accessories. Use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to enhance the design processTopics Covered: Development and use of accessories, different types and functions of leather, leather accessories, textile patterns for accessories, free-hand drawing, illustration and drawing techniques for leather accessories, use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop in the design process, preparation and production of patterns, pattern cutting and leather stitching techniques.

Target group
Level and Pre-requisites: Introductory course; no previous studies within the field are required. However students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the major themes that will be presented.

Course aim
Covers fundamental elements of accessories design while developing an understanding of the various processes involved in the production of Italian handcrafted leather goods. Under the instruction and supervision of a master craftsman, students learn about the development of the art and application of traditional techniques by producing several leather accessories.
