Today's journalists need to be versatile and up- to-date with digital tools and platforms, which present them with array of enabling choices. This hands-on approach course will teach you how to use social media effectively as journalistic tools.

The following are some of the topics that will be covered in the class:

- how to gather, sort out and verify online information- how to find new content/new story angles and 'trends'

- how to find 'thought leaders' on a topic of interest

- how to aggregate content (how to tell stories by aggregating social media)

- how to curate content- how to engage public and build readerships

- how to make Google Interactive maps and use them in your report

- how to use Google alerts to monitor your topics of interest

The working language of the course will be English.
