Understanding new developments in knowledge management is necessary in today's business environment as we are living in a knowledge society. Knowledge is regarded as our most important asset. But concepts have changed in the last years due to new developments in IT-infrastructure and especially in Web 2.0. This course will provide you with an understanding in knowledge, knowledge processes, and knowledge management in the business context. Target group
The prerequisites for this class are a general and basic familiarity with business organizations, organizational behavior and strategic management ideas. As everybody engages in knowledge processes every day, the tasks will be easy to accomplish. Curiosity regarding new developments in Web 2.0 and regarding socio-cultural determinants in organizational behavior are advantageous.
Course aim
At the completion of the subject, students should be able to: Know what the knowledge-based view implicates, how important networks are and how Web 2.0 applications influence these views Distinguish different perspectives on knowledge and knowledge management Understand (online) knowledge processes, (online) Communities of Practice and Innovation Use tools for evaluating knowledge (processes) Understand emerging research areas, including Web 2.0 applications
