Child care settings offer different learning environments when it comes to space, arrangements, selections of materials as well as different goals and attitudes. This provides different opportunities for children's development of attention, language, knowledge of the different subjects, self and social skills.

Research on quality in preschools focus on what constitutes a good learning environment for children that engage all the children in the learning process. The question is how to raise quality in learning environments that enhances learning in early childhood. Course offered by Department of Education.

Course aim
Through the course students gain academic competences and knowledge on how everyday practices in child care and primary school promotes different opportunities for development and learning for children, and in this way develop quality for all children.Course competences are academic in the sense, that students work systematically, theoretically, empirically and critically with the use of theory and methodology. After the course the students demonstrate knowledge of theories and methodologies in this specific field. Students learn to evaluate learning environments, and how theory and research work in practise:

- identify aspects of good learning environments- create good inclusive learning environments for all children

- work across disciplines



- psychologists, teachers, pedagogues and therapists

- identify and develop growth promoting relationships between teachers/pedagogues and children

- create environments that support childrens development of relationships

- combine the teachers goals for learning with the interests and motivation of the children

Course fee
EUR 0: Students on a bilateral exchange programme do not have to pay. Freemovers are obliged to pay participation fees while tuition fees only apply to freemovers from countries outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland.
