If you're keen to develop your understanding of the strategic, communicative, and psychological issues of negotiation skills, this could be the course for you. With particular emphasis on the practical exploration of negotiation skills, successful students will gain a sophisticated understanding of the importance of negotiations skills, insight into the pros and cons of interpersonal negotiation styles, and how to recognise and deal with persuasion and manipulation attempts.
You'll develop an understanding of the importance of practical activities in the creation of more profitable and sustainable outcomes and the best practices of various negotiation tactics used by multinational companies.You'll critique organisational and individual communication best practices and identify effective strategies, including collecting requirements and giving and using feedback.
Using simulations, case studies and group discussion, the course will enable you to investigate theoretical characteristics of communication and the ways to apply communication techniques in day-to-day business negotiation, helping to improve your knowledge of the foundations and concepts of negotiation and boosting your professional development.
This course intends to cover the following areas:
- Effective business communication principles;
- Written business communication (Business Correspondence, Report Writing, Editing, Marketing, Collecting and Disseminating Feedback);
- Oral business communication (Preparing Presentations, Facilitating Discussions, Working in Groups, Using Questioning Techniques);
- Skills to negotiate in international business formats that fit the personal style and practice in creating these formats.
