More and more researchers in the social and behavioral sciences use, or want to use, Mplus to analyze their structural equation models or multilevel models. We are honored that Prof. Bengt Muthen and his Mplus colleague Dr. Tihomir Asparouhov will visit our university and inform us about new developments in Mplus. In this two-day workshop prof. Bengt Muthen and dr.
Tihomir Asparouhov will present new features of Mplus version 7. The first day will focus on general SEM multilevel modeling with 3 levels, random intercepts & slopes/loadings, and crossed-random effects including random subjects & random items/contexts. The second day will cover new Bayes features; simple LTA language; and causal effect estimation.
On each day, the morning session consists of lectures, and the afternoon session of a computer lab where everyone can practice working with Mplus. On the third day there is room for individual consultations with prof. Bengt Muthen, Tihomir Asparouhov, prof. Joop Hox (multilevel/SEM), dr. Rens vd Schoot (Bayes), dr. Peter Lugtig (longitudinal models) and dr. Mirjam Moerbeek (power analysis). After these three days, the fourth 'Dutch Mplus user group' will take place (30th of August). Its main goal is to bring together international users of Mplus and to share information, learn about new developments and discuss solutions for typical Mplus problems.
Period
27-08-2012 - 29-07-2012 (-4 weeks)
Target group
(Master) Students or (post-graduate) researchers who already use Mplus. Participants from a variety of fields, including sociology, psychology, education, human development, marketing, business, biology, medicine, political science, and communication sciences, will benefit from the course.Prerequisites: At least basic working knowledge of Mplus is assumed.
Course aim
The main objective of the workshop is to learn more about new developments in Mplus as applied in the social and behavioral sciences. Moreover, the participants will learn how to analyze data sets with the Mplus version 7, to interpret the output and to report the results.
