The creation of new ventures is one of the most important economic issues in these days, all over the world. This does not only apply to the start up of new firms but also to the development of new activities by corporate firms and the development of spin-offs by universities, to the further development of existing firms and to the take-over of existing firms. This course will follow a sustainable entrepreneurship approach, in which all economic aspects, social aspects and ecological aspects of new ventures are dealt with. The format for new venture creation will be provided by the lecturers but students willhave to come up with their own business ideasand will also have to come up with their own additions to this format. A number of existingbusiness ideas will be available with the lecturers. Next to the morning lectures (in which subjects like the start-up process, business model canvas, entrepreneurial competencies, enterprising behavior etc. will be dealt with), the students will work in theafternoon and in the evening on practical assignments, supported by various external experts. The course ends with presentations of the reports by the students, in a Dragons' Den setting.

For students from all disciplines (so not onlyBusiness Studies) who are interested in the subject of New Venture Creation and Entrepreneurship. The aim is to have a very diverse and international group of students.
Course aim
After the successful completion of this course, the student will be familiar with the most recent theories in new venture creation and be able to start his/her own enterprise,in any national or regional context.
Credits
3.0 ECTS creditsECTS is the standard European credit system, each ECTS credit is equivalent to 28 study hours. All courses are worth 3 ECTS. Because some education systems (such as the American universities) base their credits on contact hours, we have included the contact hours in the course description on our werbsite.
Course fee
EUR 1200[Convert to USD]The tuition fee of this course will range between 1200,- and includes furnished accommodation and the orientation programme. If you select two consecutive courses and study with us for four weeks, you will receive a 10% discount on the second course fee.Some courses will include excursions. We will also organize trips and excursions as part of our social programme, which is a great way to get to know your fellow students and learn more about Amsterdam and the Netherlands. The social programme is not included in the tuition fee.
