The course aims to prepare students for jobs in the non-profit sector and gives them practical insights into all the different aspects of non-profit management from the legal framework and governance to marketing, lobbying and fundraising over to business plans. Various Case studies will provide the students with opportunities to apply the knowledge acquired throughout the course and to deepen their teamwork and presentation skills. Target group
Prior experience in the non-profit sector is not a prerequisite but highly welcome.

Course aim
Students will1) analyse and evaluate the roles of, and relationships between, cultural promotion and funding at regional, national and supra-national levels in relation to private, not-for-profit and public sector cultural activity 2) distinguish and discuss notions of culture, cultural intervention and policy in relation to the democratisation and/or commercialisation of culture 3) compare and contrast national models of cultural policy, considering the impact on them of European-level policy making 4) analyse and evaluate links between cultural policy and economic and urban policies 5) discuss how specific messages might be constructed to reach defined audiences By the end of the course students will have a deeper insight in the non-profit sector and will be able to bring in their knowledge in different types of non-profit organisations
