Our 5-week complete summer photography course is designed to cater for every level of competence; from complete novice to advanced photographer, there is a programme to fit your ability. Included in the course is a mixture of classwork, digital exercises, studio shoots, location work and practical assignments to improve your skills. If you can't manage all five weeks, you can book individual week-long modules, or choose a combination that suits your ability and interest.Week 1 : Introduction to PhotographyLearn how to operate your camera with confidence. We'll guide you through the technical aspects of photography such as aperture, shutter speed and lens control - and explain how to get the best out of your camera. You will study the work of celebrated photographers for inspiration and explore composition, subject and lighting.Week 2: Studio PhotographyOur industry professionals will help you develop your skills as you explore different aspects of studio photography, including portraiture and still life. You will experiment with light, develop your awareness of composition, and have the chance to photograph professional models in a studio shoot.Week 3: Landscape PhotographyLearn how to capture the beauty of the landscape by exploiting the potential of your digital SLR to the full. This module teaches you the process of landscape photography from finding a great location to mastering the technical aspects of your camera. With Dorset's stunning coastline on our doorstep, much of the module will be spent on dawn and dusk photographic shoots on location where you will learn to master light and composition.Week 4: Fashion PhotographyExplore imagery from haute couture to street style on this module - and learn the theoretical and technical skills of fashion photography.Week 5: Advertising PhotographyCommercial photography reflects our culture. During this module you will explore social, historical and theoretical issues surrounding advertising and visual treatments.

AUB Summer Courses are open to all those aged 17 or over at the time of taking the course. Our summer courses are attended by school leavers, university students and creative professionals wishing to learn new creative skills, enhance their current studies or change careers.
