This course has been developed in cooperation with a number of Danish institutions of higher education and representatives from the business community. The Engineering College of Aarhus offers a Summer School with focus on power.
The purpose of the Summer School is to enable you to apply your engineering competences to power issues. You will gain an insight into the technological challenges of designing the future of power grids. You will also learn more about the Danish electricity network, which is unique in an international perspective.Course offered by Engineering College of Aarhus.
Period
07-08-2011 - 19-08-2011 (2 weeks)
Target group
The Summer School welcomes you who:are studying to become an engineer - at bachelor or master levelhave a great interest in Electrical Power Systemswill finish you engineering education within the next yearhave educational competences within Electrical Power SystemsThroughout the Summer School, you will be working creatively in teams supporting the international environment. The lessons will be conducted in English.
Course aim
The purpose of the course is two-fold.1.To give the students knowledge about the challenges in a future network system. A system which includes a lot of dispersed generation units with fluctuating power production (wind turbines, solar systems etc.) and other new power plants based on for instance biomass fuel. At the same time the future power system might also have a fluctuating power consumption, which to some extend could be controlled by a price elastic consumption. The course focuses on the full chain from the power production to consumer consumption. Therefore the overall subjects of the course is balancing, stability, reliability and power quality of the future power system seen in relation to power production, transmission, distribution and power consumption. 2.To contribute to students attainment of knowledge and comprehension of the problem-based project oriented learning method.
