Project Cycle Management, PCM, is a tool used by most of the global multi-lateral development agencies: from the EU to the World Bank, to identify and formulate projects. The course is organized in 7 teaching blocks:
  1. Introduction to PCM - Project as a Concept - The Cycle of Operations: PDCA - Analytical process generating a well defined product - Linking Projects to Policies
  2. The Analysis Phase - Stakeholders Analysis - Problems Analysis - Objectives Hierarchy - uilding the Intervention Logic
  3. The Log Frame Matrix - The Log Frame Matrix: Structure and Content - Practical Suggestions on How to Manage the Log Frame Matrix
  4. The Planning Phase - How to define a time spam for a project - How to prepare a budget
  5. Implementation and Reporting - Types, Contents and Objectives of Project Reports
  6. Monitoring & Evaluation - Introduction to the concepts of Monitoring and Evaluation.- The ROM Approach- Evaluation Criteria
  7. Searching for Job Opportunitties - Key Documents to Follow. - On-Line Platforms to Manage Job Opportunities. - How to Prepare your CV and Apply for Job Opportunities.

Target group
This course has been designed to appeal to students interested in the aid/development sector as well as students who are interested in logical models that can be applied to project design.

Course aim
The general approach is guided by the ultimate goal of having project identification fiches (EC template) designed by the end of the course. In order to achieve such a goal, the trainees will undergo through a logical process involving specific assignments: - Selection of a project concept; - Analysis of the relevance and coherency of selected concept;- Identification of the stakeholders involved in the project concept and selection of the target group;- Elaboration of the problem tree;- Establishment of the objectives hierarchy;- Preparation of the projects logframe;- Elaboration of the Activities Schedule and Budget.An Ibook, complemented by an Itunes U course have specifically been designed to support the lecturing.
