The objective of the course is to give participants experience with and basic knowledge of smart district heating systems through visits at heating distribution companies, heat production plants and construction sites. This is combined with lectures on dimensioning the main components and on how to operate a district heating system. District cooling systems will be touched upon briefly. Each lecture will include exercises which must be solved in teams.

The purpose of the summer school is to enable you to apply your engineering competences to district energy issues and gain an insight into

(1)the technology and the main components,

(2)different kinds of heat production,

(3)smart production and consumption and

(4)the great environmental advantage of using district energy.

Course fee
EUR 0[: Students on a bilateral exchange programme do not have to pay. Freemovers are obliged to pay participation fees while tuition fees only apply to freemovers from countries outside the EU/EEA/Switzerland.
