Would you like to be able to speak Dutch to your fellow students and your teachers? Or read labels in the supermarket, ask a shop assistant where you can find a particular item, or hold a basic conversation with your neighbours? Would you like to learn more about Dutch culture, both in the academic world and outside? Then our Social Dutch course is just the thing for you. You do not need any prior knowledge of Dutch. Subjects and situations that will be dealt with in Social Dutch I include introducing yourself, exchanging personal information, addressing people, formal vs. informal language use, information about transport, ordering and paying in shops, making appointments and other aspects of Dutch culture.After the course you will receive a certificate (provided you have attended at least 80% of the classes). The course will end with a test at level A1 of the CEFR (Common European Frame of References).The result will appear on your certificate.Dates and timesThe course will last 2 weeks (4-15 August). Classes will be held every day from 9.00 to 12.00 and from 13.00 to 16.00, including self-study hours. You are also expected to spend 2-3 hours a day on homework.
