How does terrorism affect society? How does discourse on terrorism, fear of terrorism and measures of counterterrorism affect society? These are questions which are among the most pressing ones facing us today some 10 years after 9/11.
The course will take up these questions while giving an introduction to the theories about terrorism and about society that are most relevant for our attempts to answer them. Course offered by Department of polical Science, AU.

Course aim
The objective of the course is to introduce students to 1) theories about society, which are relevant for the understanding of terrorism and the way society reacts to this phenomenon, and 2) theories about terrorism that are relevant for the understanding of what society is, and how it functions.
