Key topics- Changes to the institutional framework of European criminal justice under the Lisbon Treaty- The new jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice and the interplay with national criminal law- Tools for mutual legal assistance in criminal matters- Mutual recognition in criminal matters in the EU, e.g. the European Arrest Warrant, the European Investigation Order - The role and tasks of Eurojust, the European Judicial Network, OLAF, and the future European Public Prosecutor- EU legislation regarding serious cross-border crime such as trafficking in human beings and cybercrime- Police cooperation in the EU and the work of Europol- Defence rights, especially with regard to procedural safeguards- The European Protection Order and new initiatives regarding victims' rights in the EU
