The Graduate School of Social Sciences at the University of Amsterdam is pleased to present the second Summer Institute on: "Popular Culture and the City: The Case of Amsterdam".

This two-week programme will serve as an intensive course for upper class undergraduate and masters students who have an interest in media, cultural and urban studies.

Dates: June 13 25, 2010

Objectives:
- Examine theories and concepts on media, entertainment and popular culture in an urban setting and explain the different research methods used in media, cultural and urban studies
- Discuss how city life is represented in popular culture and how popular culture moulds and forms urban life
- Describe the different subcultures among urban youth and take a closer look at the creative industry and the music scene

Rolling admissions but housing cannot be guaranteed if application is received after May 1st, 2010.
