New technology opens up new creative possibilities. This exciting textiles course uses laser cutting and digital techniques to help you create stunning jewellery and fashion pieces. Under our expert guidance, you'll learn skills and techniques that add a new dimension to your existing textile and creative print abilities.Over three weeks you will explore your creativity through a series of themed projects in 2D design and 3D sculptural applications. Using the latest equipment and techniques, you'll create jewellery, fashion accessories and fashion garments.In week one, you'll focus on designs thatuse repeated shapes - and create a unique piece of jewellery using interlocking laser cuts.In week two, you'll look at surface embellishment, experimenting with print and stitch, embroidery, screen printing, flocking and foiling, as well as additional laser cutting techniques.In week three, you'll design, develop and create a larger fashion piece based on your personal interests and inspiration found during your course.The course includes a visit to the Fashion Museum in the World Heritage city of Bath. you'll also have the chance to visit London's specialist fabric shops, galleries and exhibitions during a course excursion, to add to your understanding of textiles.

Target group
AUB Summer Courses are open to all those aged 17 or over at the time of taking the course. Our summer courses are attended by school leavers, university students and creative professionals wishing to learn new creative skills, enhance their current studies or change careers.
Course aim
Along with your own practical work, our tutors will demonstrate techniques that give you a greater insight into textile design and digital concepts. youll do your own research and create mood boardsto support your projects. By the end of three weeks youll have produced work that makes an exciting addition to your textiles portfolio.

Anne-Marie Howat BA (Hons) Textiles Anne-Marie is a highly experienced embroiderer and surface manipulator. She has worked as a print designer, an embroidery designer, and as a designer/maker for fashion, interiors and large-scale commissioned pieces.
