The Midsummer Dream School is a training and research environment aimed at students, professional practitioners and critics interested in thinking and working artistically through performative devices and methodological reflections.
The Summer School 2011 will concentrate on the relationship between performance space and spectator participation. The participants will have the opportunity to do practical and theoretical work in different types of space and venue as a framework for sound, images, personal actions and texts, analyzing the 'interference' of theatre on the spectator.
The Midsummer Dream School implies interference, which is a way of mutual impact that implies a process of disorientation, a detour or a 'stumble'. It presupposes a creative set of potential conditions, sometimes called serendipity. Course offered by Department of Dramatology studies, AU and Odin Teatret, Holstebro.

Course aim
Theatre Production 1:In the evaluation of the student's performance, emphasis is placed on the extent to which the student- Acquires knowledge of exercises, methodologies and theory in order to be able to select and develop a process leading towards a production- Gains experience with one or more functions relevant to a theatre production process- Is able to work in a concentrated, targeted and reflective manner with this.
Theatre Production 2: In the evaluation of the student's performance, emphasis is placed on the extent to which the student:
- Actively partakes in a production team consisting of several functions
-Displays independence and collaborative skills in a specialist field of the production
- Is able to analyse the procedure of a production in relation to process and product and to relevant theory of theatre and organisation
- Is able to independently reflect on the aesthetic choices made in the given production process and to relate analytically and argumentatively to the consequences of such choices in relation to the performance product.
Elective Subject b1: In the evaluation special emphasis is placed on the extent to which the student
-demonstrates knowledge of relevant texts, theories, methodologies and positions from the chosen subject
-displays analytical skills and theoretical reflection works independently and critically with focused issues from the chosen subject
- works in a reflected manner with own specialist knowledge by developing this through further specialisation and/or combination with other subject areas
