Gendered Knowledges. Feminist Critique: Interventions and Transformations (August 3rd to 21st)Career week: (August 24th to 28th)-Optional German language course: (July 20th to 31st) - Analysis of the formation of gender relations in the field of tension between technology, culture, research and society- Examination of the construction of gender and gendered order, as well as their relevance for the construction and order of societies and (academic) knowledge.

Target group
This course is designed for students with a profound interest in the above mentioned fields of study. In particular it is suitable for students who already have basic competences in Gender Studies and/or who wish to write an M.A. thesis in the field of Gender and Knowledge.

Course aim
Topic:Gender Studies, Feminist Science and Technology Studies, Queer Studies, Postcolonial StudiesLearning Goal/Output:After taking part in this course, you will be able:- to work with theoretical and methodological instruments and concepts in order to analyze gender relations and gendered order in their individual, structural and cultural-symbolic aspects- to practice gender sensitivity within technical, social, cultural, political and academic realities- to acquire proficiency in the history and theoretical developments of women's and gender studies in specific disciplines- to grasp how gender functions in systems of thought, in the practice and content of various academic disciplines, and in the boundaries between science and humanities- to cultivate gender competencies as well as the ability to apply and evaluate gender-political instruments in later professional experienceCourse Components:You will be reading and discussing theoretical texts in class. We will visit science labs and museums in order to explore their gendered substructure. We ask how gender difference is inscribed into social structures, systems of action and thought, in cultural, technical and academic objectivities how gender difference is inscribed in asymmetrical power relations; what the relationship is between gender and other categories of social order and how certain social and cultural patterns marked as "masculine" were and are able to persevere as the dominant patterns.

5 ECTS 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) for the Summer School or 6 ECTS if booked along with the optional German language course.

EUR 1850: The fee includes: the Summer School academic program, the career week and some extracurricular activities. Optional German language course not included (560 Euros)
