United States of Europe: Federalization as a Response to EU Crisis

The European Summer School 2013 is titled 'United States of Europe - Federalization as a reponse to EU crisis' and will focus on the current political and economic situation in the European Union. In this context, different policies and perspectives of the EU will we examined in depth (e.g. defense, agriculture, home affairs, energy security, budget, democracy promotions).


All teachers participating in ESS 2013 possess broad academic and practical experiences and will strive to emphasize the views of the Central European Countries (Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia) in the European Union. Participants of the ESS 2013 will be able to discuss and learn more about the political and economic challenges the EU is facing in the framework of new institutional structures.

Undergraduate and Graduate students interested in the European Union, international relations, political economy, international law, European security, energy security, European institutions, etc.

Course aim
European Summer School is a short-term educational project for students launched by EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy. The main objective of the programme is to enable its participants to improve their knowledge on the European Union and the Central European EU member states, of their views on different policies and their perception of some issues, which are tackled by both the national governments and the European Commission.



One specific objective of this summer school is to examine whether and to which extent the stances and visions of Central European countries differ from those of Western Europe. As was the case of previous Summer Schools, ESS 2013 will also provide participants with the space to discuss a variety of topics and the possibility to share their opinions and ideas.
