The course will familiarise you with the basics of how to work as a Video Journalist. Thanks to digitalization (semi-) professional cameras have become smaller, cheaper and a lot easier to handle. This makes it possible to make your own video clips or reports for your own website or Facebook page. Experience as a Video Journalist or VJ can also be the first step towards a career in Journalism. The emphasis will be on 'learning by doing' applying basic theoretical principles in practical exercises and assignments using a professional DV camera and microphone.
The same goes for putting the footage together, using video editing software. Assignments will be followed by feedback sessions in which the students and the lecturer will identify examples of good practice as well as points for improvement. Students will be expected to work both individually and in small teams.
