Working in small groups, participants in this hands-on production course will develop a screenplay, shooting script and storyboard for a 4-7 minute short fiction film, carry out such other pre-production tasks as casting and location scouting, and then shoot and edit their films.
In the process, they will gain experience with identifying and resolving storytelling problems and with the organization and execution of complex tasks while working as a team under the pressure of tight deadlines.The course is given by Richard Raskin, who has served as jury president at international short film festivals in a number of countries and has written extensively on storytelling in the short fiction film.

Target group
No previous experience with production equipment or short film storytelling is required.
Course aim
Participants in this hands-on production course will learn the basics of short film storytelling and after developing a script and storyboard for a 4-7 minute film, will carry out the various pre-production tasks, including casting and location scouting, after which they will shoot and edit their films. While good production values will of course be a concern, the main emphasis will be on understanding the nature of short film storytelling and learning to identify and to solve storytelling problems.
