Culture represents the knolegde the society possesses at a given moment. It is the expression of a people general material and spiritual civilization. Culture means at the same time the process of man’s detachment from nature ,the process of acquiring and perfecting his human nature. In an extended sense, culture includes both the material culture (technology, communications means, constructions, clothes) and the spiritual culture (achievements in the field of science, literature, arts, the level of education). In a restricted sense, culture refers strictly to spiritual culture.
Civilization represent the level of development of historically determined society. It means an advanced period of culture characterized by a high degree of complexity. Civilization refers to the carrying into effect of the social function of cultural values, their integration into all the fields of social life ,their manifestation in life, work and behavior styles. The term may also cover the relationship between individuals and groups of individuals. In a more specialized sense, civilization is used to refer to the material culture.
Every social ,economic,political and ideological background generates a different kind of response at the artistic level.All major historical changes or social transformations gave birth to an attitude of protest as well as one of adapting as far as art was concerned.The history of civilization can be seen as a succession of assertions and denials.A form of denial follows another form of denial.
