Established in 1926, the Pozna University of Economics is one of the oldest and most prestigious business universities in Poland. The school is a 20,000-strong academic and research centre, specialising in the education of highly-qualified management personnel, economic experts, as well as national and local administration workers. Its reputation is built on high educational standards consistent with the world’s latest teaching methods and business trends, on its educational offer and its undisputed position as a leader in economic research.
The University’s main strengths are its educational base, international relations and co-operation with the business world. The University has nearly fourteen thousand students. It is the only university in Poland to enjoy full academic rights in economics, management and commodity sciences.
The educational offer consists of almost forty specialisations taught in the faculties of: Economics, International Economy, Informatics and Electronic Economy, Commodity Science as well as Management. Education is provided in the form of first-, second- and third-level studies, MBA programmes (in co-operation with Atlanta’s Georgia State University – American programme; with Berlin’s European School of Management – German programme; with the University of Rennes – French programme; and with the Nottingham Trent University – British programme) as well as post-master’s degree studies (over forty programmes). There are two modes of study: full-time and part-time.
The Pozna University of Economics lays great emphasis on the internationalisation of education and research. The University offeres a number of courses delivered in foreign languages – most of them taught in English, some in German, French and Russian. It also offers Doctoral Seminars in English. The transfer of international education standards is ensured through international exchange programmes, including the prestigious double-diploma agreements.
Students from EU-countries do not need a visa to study in Poland. If the student’s continued stay in Poland (without crossing Polish borders) is planned for longer than three months then they are required to apply for a temporary residence card (karta pobytu). Students who wish to do an internship in Poland or enter other kind of employment should also apply for the residence card.
International Office plays an important role in the international activities of the Pozna University of Economics. Together with Vice Rector for Scientific Research and International Relations, it acts as initiator, co-ordinator, facilitator and administrator of international activities and educational exchange programmes in general. Much emphasis is placed on sending students to foreign universities and also organising visits of the university’s guests. International Office is responsible also for foreign guest students in areas like: correspondence, information material, accommodation, registration, and orientation.
At International Office there are six staff members who cover various functions. The rooms of International Office are located at the main building: no. 224, no. 221 and 222 (2nd floor). Offices hours are from 7.30 a.m. to 3.30.p.m. on weekdays.
