Since most of our faculties deliver courses in Romanian, a preparatory year for the study of Romanian language is compulsory. The duration of the preparatory programme is one academic year for undergraduate students and six months for postgraduate (MA and PhD) students. However, some of the candidates are exempted from the Romanian language course, as it follows:
- candidates who already speak Romanian; they have to prove their knowledge through a language test;
- candidates who can formally prove that they have done their studies in Romanian for at least four years.
Some of the faculties deliver courses in English or French (Faculty of Physics, Faculty of Chemistry and Faculty of Political Sciences). In this specific case, the candidates can be enrolled directly by the International Relations Office of the University of Bucharest, provided they have the prior acceptance of the dean of the chosen faculty and the language test.
Candidates who can prove that the official language of their country is also English or French and that they have studied in this language are exempted from the language test.
