The University of Tampere occupies premises at several locations around the city centre, within easy reach of all services. Student accommodation is located in the centre and also in the suburbs, a 15-minute busride out of town. The University also operates in other towns, with a teacher education department in the town of Hameenlinna, some 70 kilometres to the south.
The Centre for Extension Studies has facilities in Hameenlinna, and in the town of Seinajoki, some 200 kilometres to the north of Tampere

The Faculty responses to the growing needs of information society. It provides education and research on emphasis of produce new equipments and information services based on research results.
Major subjects: Computer Science, Interactive Technology, Hypermedia Information Studies, Mathematics, Philosophy, Statistics, Faculty of Medicine.
The Faculty is responsible for the training of doctors and health care professionals competent in planning, research, development and teaching. It operates in close collaboration with the Institute of Medical Technology and the Tampere School of Public Health.

The Faculty is the oldest of the six faculties and represents, with the International School of Social Sciences, the essential mission of the University.
