"Vasile Goldis" Western University of Arad was founded in 1990, and became accredited 2002 by law no. 240. Its spiritual patron is the brilliant historical personality of Vasile Goldis, ideologist of the Great Union taking place on 1 December 1918.
In september 2007, the "Vasile Goldis" Western University of Arad signed the MAGNA CHARTA UNIVERSITATUM in Bologna thus becomming part of the EUROPEAN HIGHER EDUCATION AREA – EHEA and of the MAGNA CHARTA OBSERVATORY Conference.
Today, the "Vasile Goldis" Western University is member of the European University Association – E.U.A., the European Federation of Superior Schools – F.E.D.E. and the Danubian University Association.
With more than 25,000 undergraduate students, master and doctoral candidates, and over 30,000 who have already graduated, the University is a founding member of the Private Universities Union of Romania.
The modern academic curriculum, focusing on students'' interests, and based on the Bologna Declaration "Vasile Goldis" Western University of Arad offers all three levels of higher education: bachelor''s degree, master and doctoral programs.
The European credit transfer system provides both undergraduate and graduate students, with the chance of national and international mobility.
The highly qualified teaching staff, the pedagogical infrastructure, and research center set up at European standards, are proof that "Vasile Goldis" Western University of Arad meets all the requirements by challenging students to acquire not only knowledge but become competitive on the global labor market.
The University Center for Academics and Students is located in the middle of the city, at 92 Revolution Boulevard, in a typical 19th century building typical for the architecture of Arad. Its opening was scheduled at the same moment with the beginning of the academic year 2006-2007.
The University Center provides multiple opportunities, for promoting Romanian and universal culture: art exhibitions, music auditions (live chamber music or recordings), theatre, scientific symposia, cultural debates.
THE EXHIBITION ROOM - offers to art lovers “INTERLUDE 80”, selected items by the e creative artist Ioan Tolan, sculpture, colored drawings, photos.
THE DOCUMENTAR/NFORMATION CENTRE - hosts scientific debates, and offers members of the academic community news issued by “Vasile Goldis” University Press, catalogues of Romanian and international media.
There is also a special room for THE LIBRARY of The University Center for Academics and Students.
- THE MEDIA HOUSE, has over 100 specific documents (CDs, audio tapes and video tapes) and specific technical means of media consulting;
- THE EXHIBITION presenting personal documents and manuscripts that belonged to the poet, novelist, journalist, printer TUDOR ARGHEZI, and who were donated to our University by Barutu family and Doina Arghezi, the daughter of the author.
The rare books COLLECTION, 18th- 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, remarkable due to the outstanding elements:, dedications, ex-libris, iconography , or the recording of the donation of these rare manuscripts, from distinguished personalities to the University Library.
